This report examines in detail the Indian market for hydraulic excavators, and is an update of the study last undertaken by Off-Highway Research in September 2015.
The hydraulic excavators included in this report are defined as machines being capable of turning completely through 360 degrees, mounted either on steel tracks or wheels, and having a service weight of over 6 tonnes. The machines which have an operating weight of up to 6 tonnes are known as mini excavators and these have not been included in this report.
The findings presented are based on Off-Highway Research’s database and information collected through a series of in-depth personal interviews conducted with the industry’s leading manufacturers and importers in June and July 2016.
All government statistics in the report pertain to Indian fiscal years, which start on 1st April and end on 31st March of the following year. For example, fiscal year 2015 starts on 1st April 2015 and ends on 31st March 2016.
