DEUTZ has been involved in the manufacture of engines for over 150 years and, in addition to being the world’s largest producer of multi-cylinder air-cooled diesel engines, the company also produces a broad range of high and medium speed water-cooled units. The overall power range encompassed by both types stretches from 25 to 520 kilowatts.
DEUTZ engines are to be found in an increasingly diverse number of applications, the most significant of which include: agricultural tractors and machinery; construction and materials handling equipment; compressors, commercial and military vehicles; generating sets; irrigation pumps; ships; railway locomotives and mining equipment.
DEUTZ’s global headquarters is situated in Cologne-Porz, Germany, and the group comprises two divisions: Compact Engines, responsible for the production of liquid-cooled diesel engines up to 8 litres; and DEUTZ Customised Solutions, responsible for the production of air‑cooled engines, liquid-cooled engines above 8 litres and, more recently, production of gensets. Another business unit, DEUTZ Power Systems, responsible for developing modular systems for converting fossil and non-fossil fuels into electrical and thermal energy, was sold off in 2007, since when DEUTZ has focussed on its core competencies, namely the development, design, production, sales and service of compact diesel engines.
