European Equipment Analysis: Hydraulic Excavators - Germany (December 2015)
Off-Highway Research's Equipment Analyses are a rigorous evaluation of the structure and development of demand for one product in the UK, France, Germany and Italy in the European Service, and in China and India.

This report concerns the market in Germany for hydraulic excavators. They are defined as machines capable of turning through 360 degrees, which are mounted either on tyres or on steel tracks. Service weights range from 6.0 to over 600 tonnes; Off-Highway Research defines machines up to 6 tonnes as mini excavators, which are excluded from this report. The sector of machines from 6 to 8 tonnes is often referred to as ‘midi’ excavators, and this term is also used for machines up to 11 tonnes. Midi excavators increasingly feature a special design to minimise the tailswing and make the machines useful in narrow job sites. All these are included in the report's definition of the hydraulic excavator.
This report is an update of the previous study undertaken by Off-Highway Research in 2010. The findings presented within it are based on an extensive interview programme undertaken with all major manufacturers and importers in Germany during November 2015, and on Off-Highway Research’s International Database Service.
